I live very close to the Solent, at the entrance to Cowes Harbour on the Isle of Wight. In Summer, our sunsets can be spectacular if a few key ingredients come together.
The first is a low tide, that will expose rocks close to the shore and create shimmering surfaces for reflections.
The second is beautiful clouds.
The third is a lack of wind, which does often drop around sunset.
Optional extras include rent-a-gull, visiting tall ships and various other unpredictable events.
This sunset was taken during August. Panasonic Lumix, 1/160 sec, f2.8, ISO 125, hand held.
Sunset, East Cowes, Isle of Wight, UK, August 22nd 2016.
